Under the rules of the Council of Europe, Cultural Routes are required to have a scientific committee which monitors the status and activities of the route.

The main object is to ensure that the route complies with a theme acceptable to the Council of Europe.

Our theme is stated in the Constitution and illustrated by this you-tube film

Via Eurasia Old Roads

To back up our scientific committee, we have a bibliography of scientific papers which is listed in the Annotated Bibliography (pdf 7.3.1 ek annotated).

In addition, Dr. Mark Wilson, who has a very specialized interest in our old roads, especially related to St Paul, has provided this bibliography of his own works. You can also view his and his colleagues work on old roads on the Anatolian Roads website, which is an invaluable resources.

Our scientific justification for the route will shortly appear here together with other scientific reports.
