Via Eurasia

Council of Europe Cultural Routes Training Academy

Via Eurasia, a route developed in the framework of the project ‘Italy, Greece and Turkey on Foot’ under the ‘Civil Society Dialogue V’ programme was presented at the annual Council of Europe Cultural Routes Training Academy. The presentation was conduced by Ms Elena Dubinina, Head of the Management Committee and was positively met by public.

Via Eurasia is a candidate for the certification of the Council of Europe Cultural Routes label which links Europe and Asia and allows hikers to enjoy the ever-changing landscapes, learn new traditions and meet local communities on their way. The Route passes through Turkey (starting/ ending in Demre), Greece, Albania, Northern Macedonia and Italy (starting / ending in Rome).

This year’s edition of the Training Academy took place in Visby, Sweden on June 4 – 7 2019 and was organised in close collaboration with the Hansa Cultural Route. The Training Academy aims to provide training on specific current issues in the field of cultural heritage management and tourism promotion to Cultural Routes operators. The Training Academy offers hands-on approaches to the selected topic through the participation of academic or professional experts with whom the Cultural Routes operators can have some exchanges of views.

The Training Academy 2019 focused on the topics of financing and the youth participation, underlining the importance of sustainable management and functioning of the route and engagement of the young people – the future of our planet.
