“Turkey, Greece & Italy on Foot” Study Visit to Italy With Stakeholders
Study visit in Italy is over with the participation of project stakeholders from Turkey and Italy together with our partners; EAVF and Trace Your Eco. First day started with a degustation of local bread in Monte Sant’Angelo and ended with a walk around the center of this beautiful South Italian town, which also has the Unesco world heritage cave-sanctuary dedicated to St Michael the Archangel. The following day, all the participants were quite excited to have the chance of trekking experience on the southern section of Via Francigena cultural route. The walk started from San Giovanni Rotondo, where the group first saw a small hostel dedicated to the users of Via Francigena and where they also had a guided tour inside the church of Saint Pio designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano.
In the last days of the trip, the group visited points of attractions and beautiful Italian towns on the coast like Trani, Polignano a Mare and Monopoli. The 7-km hike along the coast was a bonding experience for everyone. We had fruitful meetings with the chair and representatives of Via Francigena organization in which the best practices were shared. Last two days were spared for enchanting city of Bari where Basilica San Nicola is erected with its all grandeur. Thanks a million to the organizers for their hospitality and warm welcoming.
